There’s a tangible connection between work-life balance and our ability to generate inventive, inspired ideas that promote career and business success.
How much do you agree with this statement?
Providing the right balance between work and life for employees is often cited as one of the reasons businesses can attract and retain talent. And with talent businesses grow.
This is the message that the Cornwall Trade and Investment team will be taking to London for Clerkenwell Design Week: Cornwall is home to a tonne of creative talent – talent that is necessary to grow a successful global business of the next generation. We’ll be demonstrating the skills, and expertise of Cornwall’s most creative and ambitious businesses, and putting them in the limelight. We’ll be challenging the current perception that Cornwall isn’t just a place for lifestyle businesses, but is a viable, desirable destination for high-growth, technology-led businesses with big ambitions.
Now in its 9th year, Clerkenwell Design Week is one of the most important design hubs globally, attracting the international design community to London for a three-day design extravaganza. The hub is said to captivate more creative businesses and architects per square mile than anywhere else on the planet!
Leading UK and international brands will be showcased in a series of showroom events, exhibitions and special installations which we’re truly excited to be a part of. We’ll be there to chat and connect with as many people as possible and extend our message about Cornwall as an enticing place to do business. Events where the team can engage with people and garner people’s perceptions is crucial in our plight to help businesses of the future – whether they’re established or at the very beginning of their exciting journey.
As part of the festival, Cornwall Trade and Investment will be partnering with Cornish businesses, MARK Product and Nixon Design – at their showroom in Clerkenwell. Both are incredibly successful businesses who will be showcasing their skills and expertise in their areas of design. The Cornwall Trade and Investment team will also be on hand to offer delegates impartial advice, information, and insight to help businesses fully understand the benefits that Cornwall has to offer. We’re really hoping to enlighten businesses, policy makers and thought leaders on what Cornwall has to offer with a panel discussion and networking.
In attendance will also be a number of other micro businesses to demonstrate: the diversity within the design community in Cornwall; the vast nature of the creative businesses and ecosystem in the South West corner; the supply chain within the region; and the value of collaborative working.
We’ll also be hosting a free panel discussion on ‘Creative Cornwall’ hosted by BBC Click’s Kate Russell. This session, supported by Cornwall Trade and Investment, will explore everything from how technology has influenced Cornwall-based businesses, and how flexible working and work-life balance benefits employees – both in a personal and professional capacity.
On the panel will be: Sanders Studio, 3 White Hats, Nixon Design & Headforwards.
And if that hasn’t done enough to entice you to the event, free Cornish food and drink might!
