As the world moves towards a greener future, Cornwall’s role in food production becomes even more significant. We have all the tools to become a world leader in low-impact food systems, opening up many investment opportunities.

The nature of our fishing practices here means we already fish sustainably. We protect our oceans and take pride in responsibly landing our catch using small vessels. Up to 40 species of fish can be landed off Newlyn harbour in any one day – more than any other UK port.

Cornwall’s green landscape provides farmers with a variety of different soils and growing conditions, allowing them to work the land responsibly. They graze ruminant animals on areas like hillsides that do not support arable farming, creating an ecosystem of environment and economy.

The farming community is working closely with Cornwall’s state-of-the-art agri-tech training centre and other agri-tech projects to create pioneering solutions to reduce the impact of farming on the environment and future-proof the UK’s food security.

Cornwall’s colleges and universities are also home to award winning training facilities in Hospitality and Food Production, creating a strong talent pipeline for the sector.

From coffee producers to wine merchants and the world-famous Rodda’s Clotted Cream, more and more of our food and drink producers are evidencing their sustainable practices by obtaining B Corp certification.

Our natural environment is conducive to the production of high-quality food and drink. We have the expertise, innovation, and infrastructure to drive the clean and green agenda in this thriving sector.
